Margaret River wine region: Western Australia Moss Wood is a premium wine producer located in the Margaret River Wine region of Western Australia. The area is regarded as one of Australia's premium grape growing regions.

  • Welcome to Moss Wood

    Planted 1969, 1st vintage  1973; Moss Wood is an important, founding estate of the Margaret River wine region, located in the northern sub–region of Wilyabrup, Western Australia. Chief winemaker & viticulturalist Keith Mugford has been making wine & tending the vineyard at Moss Wood since 1979. In 1984 he was joined by his wife Clare.

    Their exacting viticulture ensures the production of grapes of excellent quality & they have created a stable of fine wines distinguished by their consistency over each vintage & their ability to age superbly. The Moss Wood & Mugford names are synonymous with uncompromising quality & since 2000 their admirable viticultural holdings include Ribbon Vale Vineyard.

  • 2013 Moss Wood Semillon 750 mL
    With fresh primary fruit aromas of lemons, green apples & figs, lifted acidity, rich texture and a touch of tannin on the palate, this wine will drink now & reward 10, 20 & 30 years cellaring. The fruit is destemmed before pressing & fermentation is in stainless steel tanks held at 18°C.

    Skilful blending of only the highest quality fruit, combined with the judicious use of fine French oak barriques, consistently produce complex, balanced wines of excellent depth of flavour & considerable length, showing rich, ripe mulberry, cassis , cherry, chocolate & coffee bean characters.

  • 2013 Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 750 mL
    Lively aromas of herbaceous and tropical fuits combine with Semillon apple and fig characters. Medium to full body wine, fresh acidity, soft tannins and clean finish. Stainless steel fermented. Delicious now, it will gradually build Semillon aged characters like toast and butter over the next 10 years.

  • 2011 Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Vineyard Botrytis Semillon 750ml
    Natural sweet wine style. Aromas of dried apricots, figs and pears. Background of raisins, earth and aspirin. Rich palate, full bodied and luscious with sweetness balanced by fresh acidity and delicate tannins. Noble rot infection by the Botrytis cinerea. Aged in barrel. Delicious young, it can be cellared over at least 5 years.

    Ribbon Vale House is single story and sleeps 8/9 in 4 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Comfortable and functional, the house is equipped with modern appliances, a fireplace and reverse cycle – heating and air-conditioning. On the large veranda an outdoor sitting, dining furniture and a four-burner barbecue are available for our guests enjoyment and convenience.
