Glenmore Vineyard - Yallingup, Margaret River Wine Region

Glenmore Vineyard is located on Ian Bell's family property at Yallingup, ten kilometres to the north of Moss Wood's Wilyabrup location. The north-facing vineyard with gravelly, red brown loam over clay was first planted with a hectare of cabernet in 1990 and an additional one and a half hectares were planted 1995. The older vines are on the Te Kauwhata Two Tier trellising system and the newer vines on Scott Henry. The vineyard shows the meticulous attention to detail that we have come to expect from Ian Bell.

The fastidious care that the vines receive is the major reason that we looked to Glenmore Vineyard to source grapes after a shortfall in Cabernet Sauvignon during the hold-over period for the 1996 Cabernet and the decreased amount of fruit due to a difficult vintage in 1997. Now, as people are accepting this wine more, it seems to have developed into a brand of its own. Therefore, it will continue to be produced by Moss Wood as an individual vineyard wine.

The Amy's doesn't taste like Moss Wood Cabernet but, as identical production techniques are used, it could almost be considered as a 'son of Moss Wood'.
