Moss Wood 2009 Pinot Noir – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Rating: Stars

Being something of a champion of Pinot Noir grown in places it probably should not be grown, this took my fancy straight away. Cherry, cedary oak, a little perfume showing but largely it feels unevolved and closed in. Medium bodied with good flavour, balanced acidity and gentle powdery tannin – plenty of oak in there for sure – but also has clarity and a pretty long sort of finish. Warm hearted, warm climate Pinot for sure, though I admire its character and style. Should age well and improve.
