Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2009 Merlot – James Halliday, The Wine Companion
Light, clear crimson-purple; a fragrant and fresh merlot, with attractive red berry fruits on both bouquet and palate, French oak adding its influence, but respectfully so; the tannins are fine, ripe and in balance. True merlot varietal character on display.

Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2015 Merlot – David Bicknell, James Halliday Wine Companion
Dark crimson-red. Ripe blackcurrant, black olive, leaf and dark plum lead this wine to medium-bodied texture with slightly firm gravelly tannins. Good now but probably better with several years.

Opaque crimson. Strong ripe blackcurrant, hints of blue fruits and cedary overtones. Medium to full-bodied with strong oak support that drives the wine forward, intensifying the tannins and grip. Not now, later.

An impressive merlot with violets, plums and mulberries on the nose. It leads to a gently grainy palate, which really encapsulates the deep flavors that rest in a supple, approachable structure. Job done. Drink now or hold. Screw cap.

Some grassy, herbal and nettley aromas with guava and gooseberries ahead of lemon-driven citrus. Lots to enjoy now. The palate is smooth and fleshy, delivering a crisp, lively impression. Drink now. Screw cap.
