Moss Wood 2024 Pinot Noir – Fergal Gleeson, Great Wine Blog
Strawberries and cream, raspberry and cherry, are some of the fruit notes. Well behaved tannins add texture in a medium bodied wine with a bright lifted finish. Moss Wood’s dry grown Pinot vines are over 50 years old and that pedigree contributes to the intensity and depth in the glass. The wine has seen 30% whole bunch for spice & complexity and 18 months in 20% new oak.
As I’ve noted about Moss Wood’s previous Pinot releases, the 2024 would perform strongly in a blind test line up from the classic Pinot regions of Australia and New Zealand!

Moss Wood 2025 Amy’s – Fergal Gleeson, Great Wine Blog
Amy’s 2025 is an accomplished and charming Cabernet blend. There’s a lovely dollop of red, black and blue fruit on the front palate, followed quickly by freshness and a touch of leather / cigar to finish. Drinks very well right now on release with fruit appeal but this also has complexity and savoury spice notes. 81% Cabernet, 8% Merlot, 8% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot.
It has the concentration and density to age for 7+ years. Will get impressive nods at any dinner party, it is outstanding value given the quality.

Moss Wood 2026 Amy’s Cuvee Blanc – Fergal Gleeson, Great Wine Blog
Moss Wood Amy’s 2026 Cuvée Blanc is a full-bodied white wine with peach, nectarine and nettle flavours. It’s Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc in a 80:20 blend.
It stands out from other SSB’s in it’s palate weight and texture. This is because of a riper pick, malo fermentation and some oak ageing. It balances brightness and fruit weight well. Moss Wood recommend ageing for up to 5 years.

Moss Wood have some of the oldest plantings of Chardonnay in Margaret River (along with Leeuwin Estate). The Moss Wood Chardonnay 2025 follows the classic house style of rich Chardonnays. It’s full bodied and concentrated with peach, nectarine, lime and cashew flavours. While many Australian winemakers are tilting to early picked, leaner Chardonnays Moss Wood’s remains a complex and concentrated style. It is balanced by a refreshing acid that runs through the wine so does not feel excessively heavy. The dry grown grapes root depths in 50% new oak. The sweet spot for this wine is 5-10 years but Moss Wood note that it has the density and balance to last for many more years should you like aged Chardonnays with extra toast and honey.

Moss Wood 2026 Amy’s Cuvee Blanc – Ray Jordan, Ray Jordan Wine
This is the second release of this wine, which was introduced when Moss Wood decided to move its semillon into a cellar release with five years of age. It’s Moss Wood semillon and Ribbon Vale sauvignon blanc, with a little barrel fermentation and maturation. This is an SSB with class. The nutty, lightly fruity aromas and flavours are exquisitely presented, with great purity and pristine freshness through a long palate. Love it. Cellar: 9 years

Moss Wood 2025 Amy’s – Ray Jordan, Ray Jordan Wine
One of the most popular of all the Moss Wood wines. It comes from the Glenmore vineyard a little further north and is a cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and petit verdot blend. Every year it hits the mark with its delivery of beautiful, rich fruit character. Blackcurrant and dark chocolate on the nose, and a succulent and lavish palate that is so exquisitely balanced and poised. This is one of the best. Cellar: 10 years

Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2024 Merlot – Ray Jordan, Ray Jordan Wine
Another cracking good merlot from a vineyard that consistently produces some of the very best examples of this variety from anywhere in the country. Perhaps a more powerful and deeply intense version of the great 2023, but still with that elegant refinement and purity of fruit expression. Floral, perfumed notes on the nose, with red berry and light fruitcake nuances. The palate is seamlessly integrated, with a fine, chalky, cracked-shell-like character balancing the fruit.
Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon – Ray Jordan
A wine that simply oozes cabernet. So much work has gone into this vineyard over the years and it is now reaping the rewards. Bright, leafy red berry notes on the nose, with a palate that is seamlessly medium-bodied yet with a succulent core of concentrated dark fruits. It’s brilliant and so bright, with a palate supported by chalky tannins and nicely implemented oak. Cellar: 16 years
Moss Wood 2024 Pinot Noir – Ray Jordan, Ray Jordan Wine
The first Moss Wood wine I ever tasted was a pinot back in 1981, so I have always had a soft spot for it. This fits snugly into the Moss Wood style, with plenty of generous, bright red fruit character on the nose and then delivered with a burst on the palate. Typically bright, with a lustrous energy evident in the light, red-crimson hues. Dry, chalky tannins help focus through to the finish.

Moss Wood 2025 Chardonnay – Ray Jordan, Ray Jordan Wine
A most elegant and, at the same time, powerful chardonnay from a vintage which produced – well – elegance and power. Aromas of savoury lemon nuances with subtle butterscotch and marzipan character. The palate is texturally pleasing, with a deep and concentrated core that drives with urgency through to a very long finish. Lovely mix of stone fruit with savoury elements giving it layered complexity. Finishes with a dry, struck-match flintiness that completes an excellent wine.

Moss Wood 2025 Amy’s – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 8% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. After the pretty robust 2024, we are back into a more ‘classic’ vintage with 2025.
Blue and black fruit, raspberry jubes, roses and chocolate box, black olive and nori, light cedar oak and spice. It’s medium-bodied, quite supple in the tannin department, just a quiet grainy grip on offer here, a light glycerol feel lends a certain slipperiness, some savoury nutty flavour and milk chocolate, again the blue fruits with an iodine-laced finish of good length. A very nice drink. Quite approachable too.

Moss Wood 2025 Chardonnay – Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
A very convincing, fuller flavoured and yet controlled chardonnay of rich qualities and yet refreshing undertow. Quite a bit of nougat, vanilla wafer on red apple, nectarine, ginger biscuit and a sense of alpine herbs. It’s a big swish of flavour and texture, palate staining in a sense. Balanced and beautiful in the bold stakes.

Moss Wood 2025 Chardonnay – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
“Our first Chardonnay was made in 1980 and, after the difficult seasons of 1981 and 1982, it has been produced every year since 1983 from those original vines. The 2025 is our 44th overall release and 43rd consecutive vintage, continuing a story that will soon span half a century.”
This is bold and opulent wine, as is usually the way with Moss Wood Chardonnay, but it’s corralled by tight grapefruit acidity and finishes with freshness and excellent length. I could probably leave it there if you know the wines, though I’ll add that there’s stone fruit, pine-lime and citrus, spicy cedar oak, a distinct aniseed perfume, something of glossy vanilla custard and cashew richness, and some flinty grip to texture. It’s a thoroughly impressive wine, flavourtown, but balanced and tight. Its best days are ahead of it.

Moss Wood 2025 Autrement Pinot Noir – Edward Agg, The Cellar Post
Pretty, assured, and confident on the nose, showing red cherry, juicy wild strawberry, hints of burnt orange, liquorice, and toasty oak. Medium-bodied, finely structured, and elegant on the palate. Red and black berries, Negroni-esque bitterness, subtle rounding oak spice, fine tannins. Deliciously balanced. Lovely stuff.

Bright ruby, with beautiful aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and rose, backed by earthy black tea, and baking spices. Medium-bodied and youthfully zesty on the palate. Strawberries, red cherry, ripe cranberries. The tension and focus are excellent in this release. Subtle spice notes beautifully complimenting the energy of the red berry fruits, whilst powdery tannins add overall texture and structure. Very impressive

Moss Wood 2026 Amy’s Cuvee Blanc – Winsor Dobbin, Wine of the Week
This is one of the simpler wines in the impressive Moss Wood range, but with spring upon us it is a very good choice for enjoying al fresco. This new vintage release is a blend of semillon and sauvignon blanc, two grape varieties that thrive in Margaret River. There is plenty of tropical and citrus flavours on offer here, along with some light oak influence and plenty of crisp acid on the palate. This fresh, youthful wine can confidently be paired with seafood or poultry dishes. Delightful drinking
Moss Wood 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon – Cassandra Charlick, Decanter
An early-morning brightness of purple fruit, mulberry, plum, salted cassis and hints of aniseed, crushed minerality, quartz and graphite. It’s very inviting, with inky black olive brine and nori. The palate is packed with concentration, complexity, succulence, spice and power. Cassis and almost tar-like notes, acidity with jewel-like clarity singing through firm, multitudinous tannins. Think silty gravel, velvety and intense. Layers of detail; this isn’t bright and punchy, though there’s plenty of refreshment in its youth. There’s a delicious little iodine lick, too. Structure and power. Built for the long haul, but drinking beautifully now, open and expressive. A brilliant Cabernet of clarity and purity; the essence of Margaret River. 92% Cabernet Sauvignon from a single vineyard in Wilyabrup, planted in 1969 with the Houghton clone, with 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. Matured in French oak barrels for 32 months.
Moss Wood 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon – Campbell Mattinson
This is luscious and lovely and loaded with pure, concentrated blackcurrant flavour and yet, crucially, it’s also balanced, fresh, lengthy and ultimately elegant. It’s everything that a great Margaret River cabernet should be. It adds complementary tobacco notes to the swoosh of fruit; there are whispers of bay leaf; creamy oak is played modestly but strategically; and the finish is both intricately woven and firm-enough for the wine to feel complete. Classic wine, classic Moss Wood.

Serious chardonnay. Refined and taut but, at the same time, there’s no mucking around here. Peaches grilled, lemon curd, pears, toast, brine, steel and roasted-and-salted cashews. There’s no flint, no flare, no room for more. This is Margaret River chardonnay served bold, neat and immaculate. Drink: 2027 – 2032+
