Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2012 Cabernet Merlot – Josh Raynolds – Vinous.com
(raised in 225-liter French oak barrels, only 10% of them new, for two years): Vivid ruby-red. Fresh dark berries, cherry compote, peppery spices and a touch of mint on the incisive nose. Bright and nervy on the palate, with zesty acidity adding juiciness and lift to the sappy black and blue fruit flavors. Ripe but impressively fresh and focused as well. Fine-grained tannins provide grip to the long, spice-tinged finish.
